When bears are fishing the river, it is easy to keep your eyes on the water.
But sometimes the best moment is happening above you.
While everyone was watching mom in the river, these little ones were tucked safely up in the trees, waiting for her to return.
It is easy to understand why. Up there, away from the activity below, they can stay out of the way while mom focuses on finding food. This young black bear had found the perfect spot against a huge moss covered tree, quietly watching everything around him.
For a few moments, he just sat there.
No rushing.
No climbing higher.
Just watching.
It was one of those reminders that wildlife photography is not always about following the obvious action.
Sometimes you have to stop looking at the river. And remember to look up.
